This year, GREEN ISLAND celebrates its 15th edition. An achievement which GREEN ISLAND 2016 will commemorate with a series of activities starting from the month of April during Milano Design Week (10-­‐17 April) and continuing throughout the year. The new,rich programme of GREEN ISLAND 2016 sets out to bring together all the pioneering stimuli launched over these years, in order to develop initiatives of divulgation, cultural promotion and training in the field of environmental protection, of civic education and eco-­‐sustainable development, as a cultural and educational heritage to leave to future generations.

Mini, design by Marcello Ziliani for Parri, is a collection with a perfect fit for contract and home. The main theme of the project is the research of lightness and elegance in its shapes; the horizontal line of the backrest and its particular lateral line do attribute personality and character. Offered with several base options, different for their typology, destination, material and finish, Mini is offered in extremely contemporary colours : light blue “ serenity “, yellow ocher gold, the very sophisticated red “ peach echo “ as well as in classic white and anthracite. A sophisticated technological research has enabled us to obtain at the same time a light, solid and resistant shell ( reaching the severe American BIFMA standard ) made of a structural gas injected polyamide.

Line, design by Marcello Ziliani for Casprini.  The rhythmic vertical scansion of the lines created by the alternation full/empty of the back of LINE is inspired by the balance and perfection of the ancient colonnades. Even the choice of simple and rigorous forms is congruent with this dimension to which, voluntarily, some elements of breakage have been added as a predominance of verticality and tension evoked by the section shape of the rib work. Besides the possibility of various bases different by typology, use, materials and finishes, the collection is available also in extreme contemporary colors. These characteristics allow the chair to be suitable for contract – as well as for home settings. Particular interesting is the version completely in plastic with the base- and backrest in separate parts that can be matched contrasting color combinations or vice versa ton sur ton

To mark the Salone del Mobile, Zucchetti. Kos, global leaders in the bathroom design sector, are presenting a new version of their iconic product Wazebo, in an unusual single format. Designed by Ludovica+Roberto Palomba, the mini shower pavilion Wazebo is reaffirming its status as a unique and innovative object that offers elegant, high-tech and, now more than ever before, personalised outdoor wellness. The new single version is suited for use in more confined locations, allowing you to enjoy the benefits of water in direct contact with nature in small spaces. Minimalist yet refined, the new solution combines comfort and convenience in a more practical and functional size, without neglecting the incredible aesthetic expressiveness produced by its impeccable streamlined and linear form.

In addition to this important new release, the Zucchetti. Kos group is also bringing its latest collection of taps, Him by Ludovica+Roberto Palomba, to the Salone. The Him mixer, thanks to its unconventional and unusual features. The radical, compact and streamlined design of the flat spout with its cascade jet spray makes it stand out, setting it apart from more classic designs. Simple, elegant and linear, it is an innovative object with a strong personality, the result of meticulous research into its technology and form and careful experimentation. The product has a green soul: it was designed to reduce the quantity of materials used to a minimum, a lightweight object that allows the water to show off the full extent of its vitality.

These two radically different products, one for the bathroom and the other for the outdoors, nevertheless share the same philosophy: a personalised vision of wellness, able to satisfy every need of perceptive and well-informed customers who prioritise wellbeing over all else.

This installation of 50 Manga Chairs by Nendo is the result of adapting the strong symbolic nature of manga comics to furniture design.

Manga consist of a series of frames on a single sheet of paper that creates a sequence. Similarly, 50 standard chairs are lined up in a grid, each one conjures up a sense of story, and each with a design element from manga. For example, a “speech bubble” or “effect line” are  added to visualize sound or action. Or emotional symbols from manga, like “sweat” or “tears”, are formed so that a sense of story and character can be felt.

With the abstraction of manga comics in mind, physical aspects such as colour and texture are intentionally avoided as much as possible. Instead, a complete mirror finish is opted for, which generates new spatial layers as the mirror surface reflects the real world, just like manga does.
